!!!

I've been super busy recently....

I've been pushed by too much pressure at work, lost my appetite for a while and couldn't sleep enough. I almost poured soup into my tea cup one morning, and another time I stabbed a sliced apple with a ballpoint pen instead of the fork I held in my other hand at my desk. I think I was half asleep then. I hope my work will slow down soon......

Which situation would you prefer - unrequited love or not having that special person at all?

Which situation would you prefer -
you can meet a special person whom you really love from the bottom of your heart, but the person doesn't love you back or it would be rather better for you not to meet such a person unless s/he loves you back?

I'm not sure, but I would prefer to meet an ideal person
who can make me crazy or lose my mind unless he doesn't love me back.
I think it's really rare to meet such a special person in my life. :)

I want someone who would be
my best friend,
my lover,
my other half,
my reason to smile,
my world,
my everything.

Then I found you.
I can't remember when the last time was that I'm being happy like this.

Goodnight!

A Special Day

Today was a special day with various reasons.

My friend's wedding anniversary...
Super moon...
etc...

I signed my signature as a witness of my friend's marriage two days ago and
they registered their marriage at a city hall today.

It was the second time for me to become a witness of marriage.
I'm so happy because two of my friends chose me as such an important person.

I really hope they have a wonderful married life. :))

Ouch!!!!

I accidentally stuck the point of a knife beneath my thumbnail. >_<;;;
Consequently, the thumb is pulsing as if it has its own heart.
I'm at a loss to explain why my energy level is so lethargic
just because of such an innocuous wound.

Since using my fingers freely at work is a necessity,
I was worried that it might result in a poor performance,
but the wound was not the hindrance I feared.
It's okay, but it's been throbbing all day. O_o;

I'm ready to go to a secret place with my new manicured nails and new camera! :D
I'll take a little early summer vacation.
Do you have any plans for this summer?

Enjoy Summer Vacation!

Which of the five senses is the strongest for keeping memory?

I have been wondering what it is for a long time
and was thinking it would be the sense of smell.
I stumbled across this answer and totally got to the bottom of my question today!

According to a scientific survey, only the sense of smell among the five senses
directly links to limbic system.
That's why it is considered that the memory remembered by the sense of smell is
clearer and more emotional than the memories of the other senses.
It is also considered that since the primitive mammals were nocturnal,
and they had to judge if food is edible by smelling,
the sense of smell is more developed than the others.

As an aside, I've been receiving listening training since I was a child.
I would think my memory of listening is quite good, but somehow,
I can't remember only the voice of a person whom I really loved.
This is also from a survey: when people lose someone,
we tend to forget their voice first. I think that makes sense.

My New Favorite Way of Killing Time on a Train

This was my result from a quiz on BuzzFeed.

-----------------------

Your icon is Grace Kelly.
Flawless and enthralling, you're a class act who can sometimes come off as a little reserved,
but deep down inside you're warm, witty, and have a bit of a wild streak.
Your most iconic films:
"The Country Girl" "To Catch A Thief" and High Noon"

-----------------------

Who can compliment others like this? This is one of the nicest compliments that I've ever received. I know I'm such a simple person who can easily be made to feel happy by a computer program. Moreover, there were only a certain number of results possible. (・∀・;)

I've never seen negative results from the futile quizzes on this site. If you are an English learner, you should give it a try when you are bored or feel down. It may improve your vocabulary or make you feel a little happier.

I'm excited!

A friend of mine is planning to make a podcast program
or Youtube channel for Japanese learners. I'm helping him as an assistant.
All that I'm supposed to do is just to listen to him talk in English and respond in Japanese.
The other day, we tried a test recording. Even though my English is not good,
it was hard for me to keep speaking Japanese while he was speaking English.
I felt like speaking English all the time while recording.
The main introductory topic for Japanese beginners will be Japanese literature.
Our tastes are slightly different, but the writers we dislike are the same. :P

He writes regularly for a magazine and wants to be the first American writer
to get a famous Japanese literature prize. Thus he is almost fluent in Japanese,
and he may be able to answer Japanese learner's questions too.
His Japanese novels have already been sold on the internet and the quality is fantastic.

Speaking of which, the event called "Bibliobattle"
where people introduce books to strangers in popular in Japan these days.

Sooo glad!

I finally found these pierced earrings that I had been missing for a looong time.
I have allergy-prone skin so it's hard to find my favorite ones.
That's why they are suitable to me. :D

Let me share with you a story that I remembered last night

Even though I knew this story, it scared me nonetheless!
This is a TRUE story, not a fiction.

When a man arrived at his apartment and got on the elevator,
there was an eerie guy putting on a cap that was so large it even covered his eyes.

"Good evening" the man said, but the eerie guy ignored him.

When the guy got off the elevator, his shoulder bumped against the man.
It was not his fault, but the man said, "Sorry".
The eerie guy left there without saying anything.
After the man got to his room, he noticed that
the part of his jacket that was hit by the guy's shoulder was smeared with blood.
This freaked him out.

A few days later, a police officer came to his room and asked through the video intercom,
"The other day, a murder occurred in this apartment. Did you see anything weird?
He had no time to answer for any questions at that time and said he didn't see anything weird.

The next day, he saw a TV news program saying a suspect in this case had been arrested.
It showed a picture of the murderer and it was the police officer
who had came to his apartment the day before.

What if he had enough time, opened the door and answered the fake police officer's question?

Aiiieee!!!!!!!!

BFF :)

As a friend of mine and I live in different prefectures,
we can't meet very often, but we caught up with each other last week.
I told her something that I wasn't able to tell anyone for a long time.
I found out about this a few months ago and had already come to terms with it,
so I tried to make this serious story as humorous as possible,
then she started shedding a lot of tears.
Seeing my friend shed tears for me, I also shed tears
because I was so glad to see how much she cares about me.
I'm so happy to have such a wonderful friend! :)

Nicholas Sparks

"I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts,
and I've led a common life.
There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten.
But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived:
I've loved another with all my heart and soul;
and to me, this has always been enough."

I had been wondering when the time will come when I can also think like he does,
but now I have an intuition maybe I'll be able to think like he does.

Who Wants This?

I'd quite forgotten I had bought this.
It was delivered to me two days ago much later than I expected.
There were several reasons for the delay, overhaul or cleaning and so on,
but I don't need it anymore for some reasons.
For this reason, if you are interested in this kind of vintage camera, please let me know.

A Mysterious Message

A friend of mine who knows that I've been feeling down
just sent me a text message with an attached a picture.

"This is the playground where I used to play when I was a kid."

(゜.゜)??? (゜.゜)???

I wondered if he thought the picture of this playground would make me feel better.
He rarely sends me unnecessary text  messages,
but I've gotten an enigmatic text from him in a situation like this before.
I take this sudden confusing message as
his roundabout way of discreetly encouraging me and appreciate his kindness.
He graduated from the top Japanese university, so that means he must be smart!
I wonder if his thoughts may be exceeding my comprehension.

Even so, I like him.

The True Meaning

The recently rediscovered insight that literacy is more than a skill is
based upon knowledge that all of us unconsciously have about language.
We know instinctively that to understand what somebody is saying,
we must understand more than the surface meanings of words;
we have to understand the TRUE context as well.

An Opinion Regarding the Method of Learning New Langages

I have often seen many language teachers write that
they can teach their language as well as children learn their mother tongue.
I've seen this on not just one, but many websites.

I forgot who said this, it was either a linguist or a neuroscientist.
In any case, I've read an article where they say that
unless our native language has disappeared from our memory,
it's impossible for adults to learn a second language as children learn their mother tongue.
When we are hungry, we first think "I'm hungry" in our mother tongue.
We never change this reflex because
we have already established thinking patterns in our mother tongue.
So your native language is a crutch to help you out with a foreign language in the beginning.
You can then gradually let go of your crutch as you become better.
For a native language, you don't have a crutch to go back to,
so the way you learn it is different.

However, we can learn a second language faster than babies because
we know how to learn and can think logically.

I read this a few years ago and can't remember exactly what was said.
So even though I know that what I'm writing is not persuasive enough,
I totally agree with what was said.

My Latest Discovery About Myself

I'm not a voyeur, but the other day I realized that
I like to watch shower scenes in movies or dramas. :P
Since I wondered why, that night I kept pouring hot water over my head
without washing in the bathroom.
Then, I realized why. It is not because I can watch actors' naked.
I just like the sound of water splashing onto the wall or floor.
It feels as if the hot water washes away my fatigue, stress, and dirt from my body.
For me, listening to this sound is more refreshing than actually washing my body.

Do Words Have Souls?

I like people who use words in good faith.
We have the word 言霊/kotodama here in Japan.
It refers to the traditional belief that uttering a thought breathes life into it.
Moreover, to utter good words brings us good things and to utter bad words brings us bad things.
The word tells us that you must not use harsh words to others.
If the last word that you told to someone was "Go to hell" and
after that the person passed away, it's too late for regret.
So there are a great deal of taboos surrounding special occasions, such as wedding ceremonies and funerals.

The other day, I attended my best friend's wedding party and signed my signature as a witness.
After the ceremony, her mother told me in private,
"Please keep an eye on them to avoid being their witness in divorce."

After that, I had to give a speech in front of a lot of their wedding guest, but since I didn't prepare a story, I was speaking in platitudes and so I repeated, without thinking, what her mother had said to me. As you can imagine, the word "divorce" is the worst word to be spoken at a wedding ceremony. When I realized this, it was too late. Scissors, knives, or any other word that makes you imagine division are also not allowed to be used at a wedding party. There are too many!

I was the one who couldn't use words in good faith.

My Note :)

I have tons of things to do, but I was too lazy to do them and I watched movies all day instead.

-Perfect Sense
It was difficult for me to understand this movie in English, but it didn't look so interesting.

-Cracks
We can see the female director's lambent obsessiveness with details for clothes or other things.
I think it was beautiful because it has a very romantic and sensitive atmosphere throughout the movie and it was visually beautiful and elegant, like a photography book.

-The Children of the Century
This was based on the true tale of the tumultuous love affair between a French novelist George Sand and a French poet Alfred de Musset. It was a typical love affair story, but I like to see the differences between European and Japanese culture during the 19th Century. I also liked their selfish and passionate nature of the characters.

-Closer
Hmm... I have no comments on this. I just liked the song.

Noooo..... What am I doing??

Σ(゜ロ゜;)!!

I've been so swamped with work recently that I had not even opened received letters.
When my work slowed down two days ago, I noticed that one of the envelopes was very thick.
It included the five music sheets which I will perform in three weeks!

I will have two rehearsals and one generalprobe before the concert.
The first rehearsal is this weekend.
Soon after I opened the package, my face turned greenish at this situation for a moment,
but I'm feeling I could handle this somehow.
That's why I'm writing this now. hehe :P

Wish me luck!!

World conditions are constantly changing, and attitudes much change with them.
If they do not, catastrophe is bound to follow.
The attitude that now is most in need of changes is the way
we view the relationship of ourselves and our countries to other lands.

My Wish

I can't speak or walk.
I can't move my mouth very well.
The worst thing is that I can't speak.

There are so many stories in my mind that I want to tell.
However, I can't tell them well.

My words are assembled little by little as I point the dial plate to my mother or teacher.
This is how I say the wards I want to say.

If God casts a spell on me and makes me be able to speak for only one day,
I really want to talk with my family.

After I come back home from school, I'd say "I'm home" to my mother while I get out of the car.
I'd also say "I can speak."
She would be surprised at the scene and be speechless.
After that, I'd call my father and brother and say:
"It's me, Kotone! Come back home early!"
They both may rush back home.
When all my family members get together, I would want to play games while chatting with them.
My mother is not good at playing games, so she would lose.
I would tell her, "Keep your chin up!"
Before my spell is lifted, I would say, "Goodnight" to each of my family members.

That's enough.

Does This Make Sense?

'Men who are too good looking are never good in bed because they never had to be."

This is a line from an American drama, "Sex and the city."
I think this makes sense. I've never met a nice, interesting, too handsome guy until now.

A very handsome Japanese actor said in a TV show,
"I don't know any pickup lines because girls hit on me everytime."
If this is true, he may be a boring person.

A month has already passed since a new year's day.
Oh my........    I've been doing nothing.

Time is Strechable

When I'm doing something interesting, or I'm socializing with people I like,
then the time flies so quickly, but why does a clock go ticktock so slowly
when I have to do something boring?

Time relates to the quality of our activities, so how we perceive its speed can stretch
because of changes to the nature of the events we experience.

There is no doubt about it!

Ridiculous Laws Around The World

This is a famous law, but it's extremely ridiculous.

Saudi Arabia has prohibited women from driving.

France has prohibited women from wearing skirts.

Nevada in the U.S. has prohibited men with beards from kissing women.

Italy has prohibited ugly women from wearing bikinis.

Lost in Translation

As you may know, this is a movie directed by Sofia Coppola.
Someone said the following about this movie.

"It tells me what loneliness is.
To feel loneliness doesn't mean actually being lonely.
It means that one is incapable of sharing one's value with others.
In other words, your own words can't be translated and others can't understand you.
This is a situation impossible to translate."

Have you ever felt more lonely when you are with someone than when you are by yourself?

I have :)

Pity Kafka

I'm reading a book by Franz Kafka called, "The expert of despair",
which is a collection of all his negative words, to research about him now.
I'd like to share some of them with you here.

1) I can't walk toward the future. The only thing I can do is to stumble towards the future.
The best thing I can do is to fall over on the floor.

2) Since I walked a little last three days and was exhausted, I couldn't do anything.

3) I can't live without her.
However.... I can't live with her either even though she wants to live with me.

4) I don't have any inherent abilities that are useful in life.

5) The cane of Balzac has carved on it: "I overcome my difficulties."
My cane has carved on it, "Every difficulty overcomes me."

6) I have to be in my room by myself.
Nothing will never happen likewise if you sleep on the floor, you won't fall down.

7) I walked very far for five hours alone, but the loneliness is insufficient.

8) I'm in valley where there are very few people, but the loneliness is insufficient.

9) Anybody can love someone just the way he/she is,
but no one can live with someone just the way he/she is.

10) I dreamed that I was a tomato, then someone ate me. I am now stuck in darkness.
I dare not reach for the light at the end of the tunnel

He wrote books that he could read aloud to his audiences.
According to the information that I've found,
the audiences always laughed when he read them.
No wonder!

At first, I understood his negative feelings, but the more I read it,
the funnier it became and then I started laughing again at last.
They are so pessimistic that actually, they are inspiring me.

Can a brain ever get filled up?
Let me put the question in other words:
Can a brain become so filled with knowledge that it can remember no more?
Can it be so full that new facts can not be packed into it without displacing old ones?
