When I concentrate on something, I sometimes feel
that if I concentrate even more on it,
I might never be able to return to my normal self again,
and I shudder at the thought of it.

It looks delicious!

Without hesitation, I bought a new recipe book written by my favorite chef.
I baked a dark cherry tart from the recipe book, before my friend came.
It was too sweet!!

That was unfortunate because I usually like her recipes.

My friend ate a piece of it and said "It's sweet and delicious."
I normally prefer fruit, and I am not a sweet tooth.

Even though it took two and a half hours to bake,
it would have been better if I ate plain dark cherry.

There is still half of the cake remaining, but I can't eat it anymore!

.... sigh......

Ça m'énerve

Est-il absurde de désirer l'impossible?

L’essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.

Ari is not my real name....

"Ari is in your family?"

A postman stopped by my home and handed a package to me last night.
I saw the name written on it and it surprised me.
A friend, whom I met on the internet several years ago, said she wanted to send me a gift.
I was a little scared, but since we are close enough friends by now, I gave her my address.
However, I forgot to tell her my last name because I thought that she already knew it.

She knew my first name, but she wrote only my nick name on the package.; "To Ari"

Ari is not my real name.
It's my nick name used by some of my friends.
I explained who Ari is to the postman.
He said, "I see, then I'll register Ari to your address as a family member."
I can officially use the name Ari from now on! hehe :P

It was a birthday present one month earlier than my birthday.
I guess she memorized it wrong! lol Anyway, I was sooo happy!

I found a reason

I found the reason why Haruki Murakami is popular around the world.
As you may know, Haruki Murakami is a famous Japanese novelist.
I have never understood for his popularity at all.
However, I read two articles about his novels and found the reason at last.

Both articles said almost the same thing.
Simply put, both said,

"Since his novels are ideational and difficult to understand,
he is essentially not supposed to be popular like he is today.
The main characters in his novels act like they believe that only they are very special.
A lot of readers read his novels as fashion."

Oh, I got it!!

I've read only two of his books, but I just thought he is narcissistic.
I'll have to read more his books if I comment on him, but I usually drop by the wayside.

Some people made a queue to buy his latest book the other day!
One of them was interviewed by a media and said;

"His book's attraction is depth of darkness.
Even after I read his book ten times, I don't understand what he means in it yet."

Oh nooooooo!! I laughed!

A certain customer's review about his new book on Amazon is getting popular.
A lot of people left comments like this;
"This review made me laugh so I feel like reading this book."
"This review is more interesting than his book."
It’s quite long and seems difficult to understand for foreigners, but here is a link.

Memoir - 3

This is my old memory.

The Visitor at 2 am in London
June 16th 2010

After staying for a week in Paris, I went to London by Euro Star.

On the second night in London, while sleeping in my hotel room, I was woken by a noise. The noise was the sound of someone trying to open the door of my room!!! I put my heavy luggage in front of the door- the first thought in my sleepy brain was that would make it hard to open, and my room would be safe. Once I was getting fully awake I realized how dangerous it might be. I was scared and shouted, "Hey! What are you doing?"

However, the person kept trying to open the door. It was 2 am! I was really scared and was trying to look at the person through the peephole, but it was higher than my head. It is too high, isn't it? My height is 158 cm though... I moved a chair and looked at like a child. He was a middle aged man, and I understood that he was just drunk and lost his way because it was a little difficult to find a room on a large floor. He kept trying to open my rooms's door and the neighboring room's in turn. When I was wondering if I should call a front desk, a member of the hotel staff arrived. He took the drunk somewhere. Speaking of which, I dreamed of a similar situation the previous day. I guess that was real and not a dream. I wan't woken up because of fatigue.

Memoir - 2

The Suspicious Man I Met in Paris
June 9th 2010

When I was eating lunch at a cafe, a French man asked me, "Are you Japanese?"
It seems so hard for Western people to recognize the difference between Asian ethnicity, but in this case I was specifically called a Japanese. He had been living in Japan not so long ago and has just come back to France from Japan, so he seemed to want to talk with someone in Japanese. I thought I could talk only for a short time because I caught a cold in Paris and didn't have a lot of plans that day. He wasn't my type though...

After talking for a while, he said, "Would you like to read the Bible with me? Ahhhh, I see! His purpose for talking to me was to invite me to a form of Christianity. I answered that I have read the Bible and knew about it well, so I didn't need to read it anymore. This answer was to decline his invitation. Of course, it wasn't my intention of denying Christianity. I know there are a lot of Japanese people who get a metal disease in Paris. We call this disease the "Paris syndrome."

According to my friend, they often talk to people who seem sad or unhealthy because it's easy to invite to their group. If so, he has an eye for people because I was getting a cold and I must have looked sick. After asking some questions, he gave up inviting me and left the cafe. Unfortunately, I may have strange powers for attracting suspicious men also in Tokyo and in other countries.

Memoir - 1

I made a lot of rough copies of this blog and haven't post it yet.
I'm going to post the original diary, which I wrote a long time ago,
without changing anything.
The old entry brings back so many memories.

無常

命は人を待つものかは

無常の来たることは

水火の攻むるよりも速やかに

逃れ難きものを

人の命はいつ果てるか分からない
人間の生滅は水火の災難より早くやってきて
逃れられない

New Year's Resolution

Today is May 1st and a third of the year has passed by.
Are you making efforts to accomplish your new year's resolution?
I guess I didn't even make one at the beginning of this year.
I don't have any reason to study English.
Writing entries here in English may be just one of my hobbies.
I need a breath of fresh air in my life now!
