Yesterday, as I opened a window, the scent of incense wafted from the next room.
It reminded me of the most painful time and
made me feel quite nauseous.
As we traditionally burn incense at a Japanese funeral service,
the scent usually reminds me only of death.
For me, it was almost like experiencing that painful time again.
