I found an interesting article on my favorite Japanese comedian's blog today.She wrote about her strange father.
To cut a long story short, every time her father set up a company, it failed. When he was struggling with his business, he made medical supplies from seaweed. Its ointment seemed effective in the treatment of pain. He named the product "Pain".
As you already noticed, it was a weird name for a product. It was not "painless" or "pain relief." When she pointed it out to him, it was too late to stop because his company has already produced over ten thousand of them.
Even more troubling, on the ointment was written "for any pain of human and horses." Now several years later, he still uses the unsold goods by himself.
He likes horses so much that he finally made a success of his business as a tipster of horse racing after producing such a strange product.
